Creative Habitat. 2021. Installation

Creative Habitat was a temporary installation that developed on the banks of the Hawthorne Canal over a three and a half week residency period. Old clothes and waste textiles were cut and crocheted together to form chains and webs between the casuarina trees. Locals and passers by were encouraged to contribute to the work by donating fabric, and crocheting sections of the artwork. At the end of the residency, the installation was dismantled and gifted to members of the community along with crochet hooks and leftover yarn.
